Willem-Jan O. Hattink

Managing Partner

Willem is the Managing Partner of Meadow Creek and brings more than three decades of experience advising families, business owners, and institutions on complex financial and strategic matters. He works closely with clients who value thoughtful counsel, long-term perspective, and a steady approach to wealth management across generations.

Before joining Meadow Creek, Willem served as Chief Executive Officer of GenSpring Family Office Services, SunTrust Bank’s private wealth multi-family office affiliate. Over his 34-year career at SunTrust, he held senior leadership roles across International Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Private Wealth Management. This breadth of experience informs Willem’s approach today—disciplined, strategic, and grounded in a deep understanding of how families build, preserve, and transfer wealth over time.

Willem was born and raised in the Netherlands and moved to the United States in 1981, where he earned his MBA from George Washington University in Washington, DC. He has served in numerous public and private leadership roles, including board positions with The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, the Fernbank Museum of Natural History, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. He has also been deeply involved in civic leadership, serving for more than 20 years on the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce fundraising campaign and chairing the United Way Campaign for SunTrust in Greater Atlanta.

Willem is an active member of Northside United Methodist Church, the Piedmont Driving Club, and Lonesome Valley in Sapphire, North Carolina. He and his wife, Merrel, have three children. Outside of work, he enjoys golf, bridge, hiking, fly fishing, and traveling with family and friends.
